5 Biggest Mistakes of New Internet Marketers

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Amy Nutt

Internet marketing has become increasingly popular over the past few years and many people are just starting to venture into earning money online. Unfortunately, if you don`t know what you`re doing, you`ll be quite likely to make some mistakes that could cost you big time. Being aware of what the biggest mistakes that newbies make is a good step toward being successful.

Here, we`ll be looking at the top five mistakes that internet marketers make in their first year. By understanding what goes wrong, you will be better able to avoid these same errors yourself.

1. Underestimating the workload. If you believe everything you read online, it seems that you can simply throw up an automated website, grab some email addresses and you`re off to the races. Unfortunately, the real world doesn’t work that way. Even the big name gurus who would like you to believe that you can magically rake in the money overnight had to work at it. Internet marketing is definitely a good way to earn money and it can eventually become relatively passive income, but you definitely need to put in the work at the beginning to make it work.

2. Jumping into the “earn money online” niche. Just look around the internet and you`ll find hundreds of people telling you how to earn money online. How many of these people actually earned money online before telling others how to do it? You`d be amazed at how many internet marketers are struggling, even as they attempt to lead others. If you aren`t earning online, don`t even think about trying to teach others. Look for a niche that is less competitive and one that you can actually stand out in.

3. Throwing money at the problem. Every business requires some start up money, but that doesn’t mean you have to go crazy about it. You can learn a lot online just by reading articles and then making a few well thought out purchases. Most newbie internet marketers go ahead and start up pay per click campaigns to help drive traffic. While PPC can be a great way to bring in traffic, if you don`t fully understand how to use it, you`ll just end up losing money. Take the time to research and understand where your money is going.

4. Being too general. A sporting goods website might do alright, but in most cases, there is just too much competition for general ideas. Instead, look for micro-niches, like “protective sports footwear”, which will have less competition and still a healthy amount of traffic. It pays to get specific. Even if you are thinking of doing this with several micro-niches, stick to one until it works, then you can branch out.

5. Giving up too soon. It`s a sad fact that most new internet marketers give up just before they could have been successful. Just because your idea didn’t hit pay dirt in the first week doesn’t mean it`s a bad idea. If you continue on, you`ll likely find that with a bit more publicity and hard work, you can make it happen, just so long as you stick with the original idea.

Internet marketing isn’t quite as easy as the gurus make it sound, though it is definitely a great way to earn a living. As long as you go into it with realistic expectations and ready to stick with your plans and ideas for the long haul, you are quite likely to find success. Make sure you do your research, investigating everything you can on your topic and then just go on and do it. You`ll never succeed if you don`t try.

IT Courses UK

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Scott Edwards

When it comes to IT courses, UK training providers can now supply the most technologically advanced interactive courses and support available today.

IT training can be split into two categories - user skills, which could be compared to learning to drive a car, and developer skills, which compare with designing, building and fixing cars. Both areas can now be taught interactively from the comfort of your PC.

Disc-based interactive courses on user skills completely cover a subject in an easy to follow style. There’s no requirement for books to supplement these courses.

The developer skills include all types of Networking and Support, Database, Web Design, Cisco and Programming.

It’s essential to find a training company that offers the right level of advice prior to you starting any IT course. You need to make sure that a course will teach you the right skill-set for the job you’re interested in. If you’re not sure which direction to take, ask questions about the different job roles available, and how they might suit your personality.

You can study your interactive IT course on your PC or laptop anywhere you choose. As there’s no requirement for internet access, you have complete freedom with regard to your learning environment.

All training comes on a package of interactive CD/DVD ROMs. They feature many instructor-led classroom sessions with full video, audio and demonstration components, and interactive laboratories for students to work in.

The course materials on these training discs have been designed to be dynamic and stimulating for the student. They are complete programmes in themselves, with no requirement for hard copies of manuals.

The best career courses must have inclusive online support 24/7. This is sometimes made available from several offices that have been set up in different time zones around the world. It means that you can log in anytime of day or night and there’ll always be a team of mentors on hand to solve your problems right away. By using technology they have many tools available to help students.

Preparing adequately for your exams is an essential part of your studies. Your course should contain exam preparation software that’s been accredited by the company setting the exams. Go for training that includes these authorised versions, as they’re the only ones that can simulate the exact exam environment. By working through these tests, you’ll know exactly when you’re ready to pass the real thing.

One of the best things about these courses is that they’re accessible to everyone in the UK who wants to take an IT course. Because the providers don’t have high overheads, prices come in at a fraction of those from traditional colleges.

The Benefits of Continuously Updating Your Computer Software

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Amy Nutt

Software programs are the lifeblood of our computers, without up to date software programs we wouldn’t be able to do all of the things that we need to do on our computers.

Some software updates may not be quite as necessary as others, but regular updates to some software are crucial to provide necessary security against the latest internet threats.

What Types of Updates are a Necessity?

If you spend time on the internet, send and receive e-mails or send and receive instant messages then internet security software is a necessity. Internet security software is what will protect you against viruses, spy-ware, ad-ware, mal-ware and all other sorts of threats present to those who spend time on the internet. New viruses and other forms of internet threats are generated every single day, in order for you to stay safe from these threats you need the best and most up to date security that you can get.

Some internet security software companies, like the producers of Norton Internet Security 2009, are constantly generating protection from the latest forms of internet threats and they make these updates available for their customers as soon as they are ready. Subscribers to Norton Internet Security 2009 can receive ‘pulse’ updates that are available with up to the minute protection to ensure that the user is protected from every type of threat as soon as it’s discovered.

Continuously updating your computer security software is an absolute necessity if you want your computer to be protected and to be running as fast and efficient as it’s capable.

What Types of Updates are Optional?

Some software companies tend to go a little bit overboard with updates, releasing a “brand new” version of a program when their users have barely even gotten a chance to get used to the previous version of the same program. These are the updates that you have to make a decision as to whether of not you want or need it enough to download the update.

You sometimes need to be wary of potential bugs that may be introduced with updates, manufacturers all too often rush the release of an update and let it hit the market before all of the bugs and incompatibilities are worked out. It’s not always necessary for a software package to be updated every few weeks or months.

For software packages or programs that you have installed on your computer that don’t have to do with your PC’s security, you have the freedom to be able to choose when and if you will install an update without the fear of an imminent threat making the decision for you. You can take the time to take into account how much you like the current version of the software and how well it runs on your system. You can compare the features listed in the update to the features of the version that you are currently running - if the features on the version you have are more appealing to you, or if the new version has no new features that you want or need, then you don’t have to update. You have the freedom to sit back and wait for reviews and reactions to the latest updates of programs that you are running, if the risk of incompatibilities outweighs the new features offered you can wait until the bugs are worked out in a future update, or just keep running the current version that you already have installed.

Ultimately - any update that becomes available on any type of software is optional, but you can keep your computer running at an optimal level by continuously updating discount computer software as the updates become available. Any updates that fix existing problems with software that you run are beneficial to download, as is any update that will increase the speed of the programs you are running, but the biggest benefit of updates comes with security software. Continuously updating your security software guarantees that you will be safe from the latest threats that may invade and cause problems with your PC, it will give you the piece of mind to surf the internet freely because you are protected.

Chiropractic Video Marketing Made Ridiculously Simple

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Matthew Loop, DC

No one could have guessed how phenomenally successful social networks like YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace would become. The power and potential of these top sites are mind boggling. When in 2005 I began to introduce the power of these sites to chiropractors and show them the impact it could have on their marketing, I knew that web 2.0 could bring all of them phenomenal marketing success in these difficult times. Knowing all this, I still couldn’t even fathom the remarkable success that was really still to come.

Discovering how to leverage social media and video marketing for my chiropractic practice was one of the best things that I could’ve ever done. As many are aware, this type of marketing / advertising is free so there is virtually no risk to the chiropractor. In 2005, I first began meeting and interacting with people from my local community on Myspace. I was literally meeting 50 people every single day which was getting me tons of free traffic exposure very fast. Initially, I was testing and tweaking certain things on my profile for greater conversions and how I was presenting myself. Then, I began to notice the phone calls and the new patients coming it. I have to say, I was pretty thrilled when this began to happen.

Within 24 hours of implementing my self-sufficient marketing tactics, I was successfully able to brand myself in the online community. I was able to send out information to subscribers weekly; material they chose to watch like informative videos and blogs. These people remained aware of my practice and what I was doing all the time. When you meet people online this way and keep them informed about your practice and chiropractics in general, you become the go-to chiropractor in your community. That’s just the beginning of the success you’ll unleash.

Perhaps the greatest goldmine that I discovered for chiropractic marketing and other forms of marketing is online video submission. When you make and upload online videos, it’s a simple and easy thing you can do that yields huge results in your chiropractic practice and its popularity in your community. There are a couple tricks to learn though, like how to properly compress your video through Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. It’s vital that you do this before trying to upload to YouTube or video sharing sites.

Videos get indexed extremely well by search engines, if you understand basic and advanced optimization strategies. I’ve been able to drive massive amounts of highly-targeted visitors to my website with video, which has basically made me a local celebrity. In conjunction, I’ve been able to bring in many new patients that have seen my direct response videos. They feel like they know me before they ever step into my office. They are able to follow me on my channels to get new health information, as I overwhelm them with consistent value and not spam-based advertisement.

Almost half of the content online today is video, and its time you jumped on the bandwagon and put your chiropractic marketing into high gear. Remember, the more material you have online in the best variety, the more credibility you gain. Just imagine Googling someone or something, and coming up with a particular office or practice in multiple top billing positions. That person would automatically appear to be the authority on something, right?

Take people on a journey with you through your office and in many different locations. I always bring my video camera and tripod with me wherever I go because I never know when I’m going to have a great idea for an educational or promotion video for my chiropractic practice or other business ventures. I’ve shot videos at the office, at home, in Costa Rica, at the golf course, in the mountains, on the ocean, and many other locations. Viewers love to tag-along with you on your journey and see a change of scenery. Also, in my opinion, natural light is the best and most flattering.

It’s important that you put out 1-2 videos a month as a minimum. This is how you can canvas the search engines and come up in multiple places. You must keep pumping out material so that your position stays strong in search engines. There’s no need to outsource your videos because it will cost a lot of money and it’s so easy to do yourself.

Make sure you’re relaxed and having a good time while making these videos. You want to present yourself as being the warm, professional, and friendly person that you are. That way, people will feel like they know you, and they’ll want to stop in to your office and utilize your services.

Lastly, find a chiropractic coach with a proven track record who’s been leveraging social media and social networking the past several years. Since the social media landscape is so vast, it’s a good idea to find a consultant that solely specializes in this type of chiropractic marketing. This is not the type of material that can be effectively taught for an hour at a multi-topic seminar. After you find your mentor, hang-on for one incredible ride. Your chiropractic practice and business live may never be the same again!

Finding Used Video Game Systems Made Easy

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Mary Bush

With all of the different systems out there, there are just as many ways to purchase them. The idea of trading in games and gaming systems and purchasing used games and gaming systems to growing in popularity almost as fast as the new updated models hit the shelves.

As each new model hits the shelves, the gaming companies are fiercely advertising the release date. Commercials show the new and improved graphics and the awesome capabilities. The companies make sure to express how much better this model is than it’s counterpart and how much more this new model can do.

Then the child runs into the next room to tell his or her parents how the absolutely need it and how they will be the only one without one. The parents go look at the new model and find the price to be outrageous and are thinking to themselves, how am I going to afford this? This is where the idea of trading in or buying used comes in to play.

There are certain stores out there that will accept a trade in and put the credit towards a new system. This will definitely off set the initial cost. Any little bit helps, right? Things to consider when trading in games or a gaming system are how old the item is and how good of condition it is in. A store is more likely to accept a unit that is fairly new and works well. One other thing the store also looks at is how fast are they going to be able to resell it. I can say with much confidence that you are going to have a greater chance in trading in a Playstation 2 right now than you would an Atari.

Another option to look into is purchasing a used system. The system may have been repaired or rebuilt, but most stores will offer a warranty. Even if your have to purchase an extended warranty, I would say do it. How many of us have not purchased the extended warranty on an item to have a problem arise just days after the initial warranty? Probably too many. If you are going to fork out the cash for the purchase, it a wise idea to cover your investment.

Whether you choose to buy new or used, the thing to remember to be smart about your decision. Shop around. Check out all of your options. There are so many resources at our fingertips that it would be a shame not to take advantage of them.

Chiropractic Marketing with Social Networks and Video

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Matthew Loop, DC

When they first originated, I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined just how lucrative and powerful social networking websites like YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were going to be for business growth and exposure. When I introduced social media and simple video marketing to the chiropractic profession three years ago, I was confident that these Web 2.0 platforms would change the face of marketing as we knew it. With that confidence, I still could not have predicted the explosion that has taken place globally in such a short amount time.

And that wasn’t the end of it either. I was able to save a remarkable amount of time by leveraging tasks, and was able to use web 2.0 and all its services at absolutely no cost. No wonder expensive marketing firms are working like crazy to find new clients to charge loads of money. They sense the end is near, because the real power of SEO and web 2.0 can be unleashed on your own! When I started to introduce myself to my community three years ago using MySpace, I was meeting nearly 50 people a day online. The traffic this drew to my website was unheard of. Soon enough, calls from potential patients starting coming in.

Marketing on social media can yield instant results but it’s absolutely phenomenal for positioning yourself in the long-term! It’s similar to planting seeds within the community and getting into every nook-and-cranny possible. If you set yourself up correctly, you can brand yourself as an authority in whatever specialty you choose and gain trust and credibility with your community. Then, you can keep tabs and consistently build top-of-the-mind awareness with the friends and subscriber lists that you’ve built. The avalanche occurs after you’ve amassed several thousand people that you keep in touch with regularly that need you or refer new patients to your chiropractic practice for the conditions that you treat.

One of the things that I was able to capitalize on very early in my social network endeavors was simple chiropractic video marketing. Making videos and uploading them is a fairly simple, quick process yet so few chiropractors have even thought to marketing to their community this way. A word of advice, though. After you shoot your video from a video camera or digital camera, many times you will need to compress the actual file using Windows Movie Maker (if you have a PC) or iMovie (if you have a MAC). Then, you will be able to edit or upload to a video sharing website like YouTube.

I noticed a while back that videos receive tremendous index status in the major search engines. When you understand the basics of optimization, you can begin to see your material reach top billing as well. When the most highly targeted visitors see your videos and get the link to your website, you officially have the internet working for you and your chiropractic practice 24 hours a day. My new patients said they felt like they already knew me, even before stepping into my office. That says a lot! When I provide new health and chiropractic information over the internet to help and inform people, they sense that they’re not getting junk or spam. They’re getting information and support they can trust.

Now is the time to learn the power that chiropractic video marketing can have on your practice. Nearly 52% of online content today is video! When people go online to look for solutions to back pain and neck aches, they want to ideally find videos for “one on one” instruction and information online. The more videos and material you have online, the more they trust what you have to say and believe your credibility in the business. There is no better way to literally stifle the competition.

It’s truly awesome when you have the ability to give people a tour of your office, so that they can really see where you work and the environment of your practice. I know it sounds funny, but I carry my video camera and tripod with me everywhere, because I’m always inspired by some new idea for an informational video and promo for my chiropractic practice. I’ve shot videos everywhere! It says something about the success of my practice that I’ve made promo videos in the office, at home, in the mountains, near oceans, and even in Costa Rica! Wouldn’t you like to hear answers about your back pain from someone sitting in a majestic location? Viewers come with me on this journey, and are better able to trust me when I speak to them in the flattering natural light.

Keep in mind that volume is really important when it comes to chiropractic video marketing. You want to make at least 1-2 videos a week to begin to successfully canvas the search engines with your material. This helps you to gain credibility in the market. When you outsource the videos production, you’re going to pay a lot of money. It really is so simple and easy to do it yourself. Ask people to subscribe to your YouTube video channel at the end of each one.

Make sure you’re relaxed and having a good time while making these videos. You want to present yourself as being the warm, professional, and friendly person that you are. That way, people will feel like they know you, and they’ll want to stop in to your office and utilize your services.

You truly do need a good chiropractic coach that understands the current marketing climate, and how modern technology and communications function for chiropractors today. Find a coach that specializes in chiropractic marketing utilizing web 2.0 and social media sharing sites. There’s no use finding someone who specializes in anything else. Once you find the right mentor, fasten your seat belt because your practice is about to explode on the internet!

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Found Tape

These days, the majority of people rent movies all the time. Typically we will wait for the DVD rentals to hit the stores, instead of seeing the film at the cinema. Here is a short list of some of most heavily rented DVD’s in Oct. 2008.

The movie is a story about the comic character the Hulk. Actors Edward Norton, Tim Roth, William hurt, Liv Tyler play key roles in this film. Louis Leterrier directs this film. This movie would be classified as a science fiction film.

DECEPTION: Accountant Jonathan McQuarry has an unusual meeting with charismatic corporate lawyer Wyatt Bose. This is an event that turns his life upside down. He learns about “The List”, which provides access to a secret world of sexual indescretions. But, he also finds himself in a world of betrayal, treachery and murder.

This is another version of the 1959 film, which was based on the classic novel by Jules Verne. Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers star in this adventure film.

THE HAPPENING: Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberb), with his wife and many other frightened people are escaping Philadelphia by train. The city has been thrown into chaos. People have been overwhelmed by some strange illness, and are killing themselves. Can we find the solution, or are we approaching the finish of the human race?

IRON MAN: Playboy, engineer genius, Tony Stark is kidnapped by Afghan rebels. They command him to build missiles for the insurgent group. He sustained injuries while he was being captured, and he has shrapnel lodged in his chest. His goal is to win The Crucible, a huge racing event that had cost his brother his life. Against the odds, and risking it all, he joins forces with his arch rival Racer X, in an effort to capture the championship, and keep his families racing business alive.

The Benefits Of Having Direct TV Satellite

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by katie George

When looking for an internet service provider, you will want to consider Direct TV satellite for your ISP needs and all your television needs. The time has come where many people are looking for a way to combine expenses of television and internet service costs together to save money. If you are using a dial up connection or a cable connection, you are paying for both services that are not giving you the service and speed of satellite. The monthly charge for Direct TV satellite with an Internet service will save you more money and give you a better service.

Your Internet connection speed is going to impress anyone who has had dial up or cable. The basic package gives you speeds of seven hundred Kbps to two Mbps, which is going to be up to one hundred and fifty times faster than regular dial up. This means you will open pages faster than with dial up and connection to the Internet is instant with no waiting. The Internet satellite system is going to give you incredible speed and downloads are done in a matter of seconds depending on the size of the file you are downloading.

The advantages of having Direct TV satellite Internet service are endless. You no longer need a phone line to access the Internet and you can connect multiple computers to a single Internet connection. You will have no down payment and the service is sometimes more affordable than what you are paying for cable or dial up service. Satellite signal comes through the Direct TV dish, which means you will have a TV signal and an Internet satellite signal all coming in on one dish. High speed Internet does not get any better when you choose a satellite connection.

One important thing to know about Internet satellite systems is that Direct TV satellite is not an Internet service provider, they work with Hugesnet, which works with ISP companies to give you the fastest connection possible. For instance, Wisconsin residents in the east central part of the state would only have one service provider to choose. However, this one provider does offer three different speed connection packages. The lowest speed is five hundred and twelve Kbps up to fifteen hundred Kbps, which is the top package. The Internet service provider does work with Direct TV satellite to give you the best broadband connection in your area.

There are no disadvantages of having Direct TV satellite with a broadband connection. As long as you are receiving a signal from the dish, you will have a connection. It is very rare for the signal to be lost. If you live in a remote area with no cable service, Direct TV will be your best option for Internet and TV service. Home workers are finding out that more and more companies are allowing satellite Internet as a way to work at home via the Internet, which makes it easier for more people to work from home to make money for their families. It is always going to be better than dial up, which remote areas were limited to before. You will see a big difference in the performance of your computers when you have broadband.

Generating Revenue With Carefully Designed Website

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

by Ferdinand Mekinsy

In reality, you do not need to offer such a “heavyweight” download such as a full-feature software like iTunes. You can attract prospects equally well with some quality freebies such as a simple report, a free wallpaper, and so on. The important thing is that your download offers enough value for the prospect to be willing to give away his/her own email address to get it.

Minimizing Load Time Through Image Optimization:Even though more and more Internet users switch to broadband every year, a sizable portion of the web’s population is still running on good old dialup connections. It is therefore unwise to count them out of the equation when you’re designing your website, and a very major consideration we have to make for dialup users is the loading time of your website.

Generating Revenue With Good Planning:For anything to work well, care must be taken to make firm, workable plans to execute it and the same goes for website designs. With a well thought out website design, you will be able to create a site that generates multiple streams of revenue for you. In fact, may websites turn into online wasteland because they are not well planned and do not get a single visitor. Gradually, the webmaster will not be motivated to update it anymore and it turns into wasted cyberspace.

Another route you can take is to design your website yourself. Think about it, if you only need 5 simple pages to present some simple information, why waste hundreds of dollars for it? Just spend a little time to sit down and do it yourself. You’ll be able to design your own sites even if you do not know a single line of HTML code with the help of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs such as Microsoft Frontpage, Macromedia Dreamweaver and so on.

When you have a broader, better-defined scope of themes for your website, you can sell space on your pages to people interested in advertising on your page. You can also earn from programs like Google’s Adsense and Yahoo! Search Marketing if people surf to those themed pages and click on the ads. For this very reason, the advertisement blocks on your pages need to be relevant to the content, so a themed page fits that criteria perfectly.

Use visual representations for the problems and solutions that your product offers. Not everyone will read your text copy from the head to the tail, but most people will pay attention to images on your website.
