Every year, more and more people fall victim to perpetrators of identity theft. Since 2002 millions have lost money, credit and credibility. With our economy in recession, it is more important than ever to protect your identity.

With technology developing at an ever-increasing rate, identity thieves are finding it easier to steal personal information over the Internet. Statistics show that friends and family members also steal identity in some instances, so it is important to protect your personal information at all times.

Victims of identity theft sometimes have a difficult time getting back on track. Thieves use stolen identities to rack up debt, file bankruptcy, commit additional crimes, cover crimes, etc. It can be an ongoing battle to clear your name once it has been used illegitimately.

Credit bureaus do not remove actions committed by thieves from your credit records. Rather, they might flag a bankruptcy record with the word ‘resolved’ or ‘cleared.’ When lenders see a Fraud Alert on your credit report, they don’t know who committed the crime and can make mistaken assumptions. It may become difficult to get credit, so prepare to save money for your future. If possible, keep the money in a safe place or in a newly opened bank account.

If you fall victim to identity theft, report the crime to your local authorities immediately. Next, visit the Federal Trade Commission Consumers site and file a complaint, alerting the government that your identity was stolen. Monitor your bank accounts and credit reports diligently, and report any new defilement. You will also need to contact the credit bureaus and alert them that your identity was stolen.

Read all the local information you can about identity theft and prevention. Some states place freezes on your credit accounts to prevent access by anyone but you. Other states only permit Fraud Alerts, which do little for the victim. These alerts stay on your credit reports for about three months unless the perpetrator continues to use your identity. To protect your self from further identity theft change all passwords and PIN numbers at random. If you use the Internet erase all traces of your activity once you have left a site. If you order online, make sure the site is secure and destroy traces of your personal information immediately by clicking Tools at the top of your Internet page, then Delete Cookies, Delete Files and Clear History. You can also perform this action by clicking Start at the bottom of your screen, Control Panel, then Internet Options. Protect your computer with Spyware and Antivirus programs.

It can be easy to catch identity thieves who are family members or acquaintances, but if your identity is stolen online there is no guarantee that the perpetrator will be caught. The Internet is one of the easiest places from which thieves steal or lure victims into a web of crime and hate. Unfortunately, most of these people never get caught.

An effective sales letter has three major components. The first is the headline. This is where you grab your reader’s attention. If you fail to do so, then you are wasting your time with the rest of the letter. Second comes the offer. This needs to be explicit so that the reader knows exactly what you’re offering. It must also entice them into further pursuing your product after reading the letter. The final component is the postscript. After the headline, this is the second most read portion of a sales letter. This is where you put that extra incentive to make your offer irresistible. You should always write the sales letter in order and never all at once. Do it section by section. This method produces excellent sales letters.

If you don’t have great experience writing copy, then you should read the books of the experts and follow their guidelines. Dan Kennedy is a great example. He is an excellent copywriter and has written some extremely insightful books about copywriting.

Hopefully this article helped you improve your copywriting skills, or at least pointed you in the right direction. The key is to creatively interweave your ideas with the already set procedures of copywriting. These procedures are important because they give you structure to build upon and develop your own creative touch. Starting from scratch will generally produce weaker sales and more work, so use the procedures and structures already out there! Give the Pass Up Programs a Pass

There are many programs out there that have some form of the “pass up pay plan– Passport to Wealth, MyInternetBusiness, CarbonCopy Pro, and Global Resorts are a few of the many. They basically work the same, but for this article I will focus on Passport to Wealth. Passport to Wealth is an “automated” online business that sells reseller rights to an assortment of digital products. However, most people who join Passport to Wealth do not join to make money reselling the products. Instead, the big money is made marketing the Passport opportunity.

The pass up compensation plan with Passport to Wealth (as it does with so many other businesses such as Liberty League, MyInternetBusiness, EDC, etc.) requires that you “pass up” your first X number of sales to your sponsor. They are gone from you forever. You don’t just give your sponsor the MONEY for the sale, you also permanently give them the person who enrolled. The explanations of how this works make it look great. After you make your required sales, you get the first X number of sales from the next person, and the first X number from each of them, and so on. 2,4,8,16,32….

The problem with all that is this: once you have made your qualifying sales, your sponsor has no incentive to help you. He does not get an override on any more of your business. In reality, you are now direct competitors. The overall effect of this is that “teams” do not really exist. You help someone until they qualify, then say goodbye to them while you help the people they sponsored and passed up to you.

My advice is to give a pass to the pass up programs. There are numerous good, reputable companies out there, with good products and much better pay plans where you aren’t required to give your work to someone else. It is much better for you in the long run if your sponsor earns some override on your work forever, thereby giving him the incentive to help you forever. When you pass up a sale, it isn’t just the single sale that you pass up, but all of the sales that develop out of that entire organization forever.

Over the course of many years and even more business opportunities, I developed my own checklist for any opportunity. If a business didn’t pass muster on one item, I passed on them. Never let them pressure you into staying on the call. This in and of itself is a bad sign.

Watch your information on the internet ” Never give out information over the internet if you are not certain the source is safe. This is especially true if you are acting on the information from an email. Make sure that if you receive an emailed notice from your bank or other institution that requires you log into your account that you do NOT use the link given in the email to log into your account.

One ploy that is used is thieves send out bogus emails that say they are from your bank. These emails often ask you to log in into your account using a provided link. Do not respond to these emails, instead go to your banks website and log into your account. Most banks and financial institutions do not send emails for this very reason.

10 Helpful English Phrases to Use When Travelling

If you do not speak English well and you must travel to an English-speaking country, it is important to know certain phrases that can make your travel easier on your. However, simply knowing them is not going to help if you don’t know what they mean. You have to know what they mean in order to know what situations to use them in. If you use the wrong phrase in the wrong situation, then that could be a socially embarrassing situation.

So below are 10 English phrases that you can use when traveling so that you can effectively communicate with others and not feel so lost:

1. “Excuse me.” This phrase is used if someone is standing in your path or you must pass very closely to someone. Not using this phrase could be considered rude if you just stand there waiting for them to move or you bump them.

2. If you accidentally bump into someone or you interrupt them accidentally, use the phrase “I’m sorry.” This is considered polite and usually the person that was affected will shrug off the incident and say something such as, “that’s okay.”

3. “Where is the restroom” is a good phrase to use if you cannot find the restroom in a particular establishment. Have the person you ask, preferably an employee, to point you in the right direction or even show you where it is.

4. “How much does this cost?” This is a good question and a phrase to remember because there are times in which a price tag is not present on something and you must know how much it is. You shouldn’t feel restricted when you are shopping in an English-speaking country.

5. “Thank you” is a phrase you want to use frequently. This is being polite to someone who has helped you or has given you information. It is also nice to tell sales clerks and cashiers “thank you” when they are finished serving you.

6. “I don’t understand” is a phrase that can help you gain more information that you do understand. If someone is talking to you like you have spoken English your entire life, you can say this phrase to slow them down or have them break it down for you a little better.

7. “How are you?” This is another phrase to use and is a sign of courtesy, especially when someone says “hello” to you when you walk into a store or another establishment. They may ask you the same question, so “Fine, how are you?” or even “Good, how are you?” are good phrases to use.

8. “Have a nice day” is a phrase you may want to use when leaving an establishment. A “goodbye” may also suffice. If someone says to you to have a nice day, you may not want to respond with “have a nice day.” If you are not sure what to say, a simple “thank you” is appropriate.

9. “You are welcome” is a phrase you want to use when someone tells you “thank you.” This is frequently used when you are checking out at a checkout counter or are given the bill at a restaurant.

10. “No, thank you” is a phrase you want to use if someone offers you something and you do not want it.

These phrases can prove to be quite helpful when traveling in an English-speaking country. They will help you get around in a standard situation. However, many times the phrase is going to depend on where you are going. Some of the phrases you use may be different at the beach than in the city, so it is good to check on which phrases will help you most.

The iPod: How Did it Happen?

The digitalization of music became very widespread with the introduction of MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, commonly known as MP3. It is an encoding format for sound storage using lossy data compression, which just means audio signals beyond most human hearing are not included to minimize storage levels. MP3 became the rave of the time.

Along with the growth of the MP3 came the popularization of personal digital gadgets like the camera, video cameras and organizers. But critics of the MP3 format said it lacked the ‘totality’ or ‘high fidelity’ of music recording and playback present in 33 1 records. Apple Corporation found most MP3 players as unwieldy or small storage capacity and their interface undesirable. This criticism engendered the creation of the device that became the measuring point of audio storage and playback: the iPod. Unveiled in October 23, 2001, the iPod was a “Mac-compatible 5GB HDD of 1,000 songs”.

Apple engineers Tony Fadell, Michael Dhuey and Jonathan Ive conceptualized and created the iPod on the instructions of CEO Steve Jobs and under the aegis of Jon Rubinstein, the engineering chief. The concept for it started when Apple launched iTunes, a Internet program capable of switching CD music to digital form, organize the libraries, play video and radio. Developing a gadget to connect with this, Apple developed and introduced the iPod in a few months later, and followed up its rapid development with numerous models. The iPod line comprised of the iPod Classic, Nano, Mini (replaced by Nano), Shuffle and Touch.

First to be marketed was the iPod Classic on October 23, 2001, the subsequent issues appearing annually from July 17, 2002 to September 5, 2007. The Mini, a short-lived device only had two generations, marketed January 6, 2004 and February 22, 2005. The iPod Nano was released three times, September 7, 2005; September 12, 200 and September 5, 2007. Meantime the iPod Shuffle appeared first in January 11, 2005 and again in September 12, 2006 while the iPod Touch was released in September 5, 2007.

The term iPod itself was an idea by Vinnie Chieco who was reminded of 2001: A Space Odyssey film when he saw the gadget. It turned out the name was owned by Joseph Grasso who patented it for his Internet kiosks in 2003. Grasso eventually transferred ownership to Apple in 2005.

Seeking big storage capacity, power and ease of manipulation, Apple designed the iPod to be just a ‘mass storage device’ very similar to a computer hard disk drive. The Mini even used a micro-hard disk, later stopped. Operating depends on the first computer system used: if operated on a MacIntosh, the HFS+ format is used; if on Windows, FAT32, which, however, was growing to be the format more often used.

In terms of connectivity, the iPod first used the FireWire cable, but eventually shifted to the USB for ease of loading. For storage, the first iPod can load only a thousand songs with a 5GB disk, but following models, such as the 6th generation iPod Classic, have 160 GB disks. This means the user can totally use up the battery twice yet not play all the stored songs in the iPod, perhaps an overkill, but then who recoded sound field today, garnering over 90% of hard-drive recorder-players and more than 70% total.

The iPod dominates the stored-music field today, capturing over 90% of hard-drive recorder-players and more than 70% over-all. It has received several awards including those on engineering excellence, most innovative product, and best computer product. Reviews rave on the iPod for its clean look, superb design and facility of use, and has ‘altered the landscape of portable audio players.’ Such is the iPod.
